Stringybark

Eucalyptus Laevopinea / Eucalyptus Eugenioides

Stringybark is a mix of light timber from the Stringybark group of Eucalyptus trees. It is a large hardwood that grows in the tablelands of southern NSW and in eastern Victoria. A Stringybark can be any of the many Eucalyptus species which have thick, fibrous bark. One of the most appealing aspects of this timber is the interesting range of natural characteristics and insect trails that occurs as a result of Australia’s harsh climate. It is generally straight grained with a variety of blonde colours and often a pinkish tinge.

Janka Rating: 8.5

Different species of timber have different hardness ratings called Janka Ratings. The higher the number, the harder the timber. This is an important thing to consider when choosing your timber flooring.
